FYI:

The latest issue of EM has a very good review of the Alesis Masterlink CD Burner.

I was thinking about getting one but after reading the review, I think I'll wait until Alesis makes some needed improvements, which I'm sure they will do.

I've been using my new Masterlink for a couple of weeks, with extremely good results for the type of music at hand (recording a capella vocal quartets live to 2- the only work I can possibly get done with the room still coming together, the patch bays only half soldered, no multitrack, and wires hanging out of the walls). I bought it after reading very positive reviews in both Recording and EQ, and determining that I'm too damned old and crotchety to deal with computer-based recording...

I very seldom get to a store that carries EM (and that issue is probably off the shelf by now, in any case). Would it be possible for you to relay the issues they mentioned that they had with the unit? If some of them were showstoppers for you, I'd like to know about it. I'm still early on in my use of it, and I'd like to avoid any pitfalls there might be out there.
