I was told that these were good monitors. Does anyone know anything about them?

Thanks!

I like mine!

I A/B'd these monitors against the Truths and the 824s. The 824s deffinitely sounded better, but not $1000 better if you're on a budget. The Alesis blew away the Truths in my opinion but it's really a personal preference thing. If you're doing stuff with lots of bass, I'd get some mopads with them. Go to a reputible dealer (ie, not Guitar Center) and compare different brands for yourself. That's the only way you'll really know for sure you made the right decision.

Matt

go and listen to them if you can. i too think the alesis m1's blow the behringer truths away. i wont comment on the 824's, because i dont like them for mixing.

a lot of nearfields are shy in the bass area, which isn't a problem. but if you want the extra response, m1's have a lot of bass in them.

i would definitely get them over the truths, but have a look round and see what else is in your budget before you buy.

Alesis M1s

Just bought a pair for $399 through American Music Supply. I love them. I'm using them to mix down out of a Korg D-1600. The sound seems very true to me.

I tested the M1 Active MKII's last weekend and I'm torn between three deals....

1. Tannoy Proto J w/ Hafler TA1100 Amp package for $379
2. Alesis M1 Active MKII's for $399
3. KRK 4000 series w/ Hafler TA1000 Amp for $400

I'll be using with Digi001, so I don't really need the amp... any suggestions?

i could be wrong but im quite sure the Digi 001 wont power monitors sufficiently. i could be wrong.

go and listen to the monitors. one person's preference may not be what you like.

You're correct.. the digi won't power them, but i'm not sure if I should go with powered monitors such as the MKII's or get a power amp and passive monitors.
