Ok, I'm a newbie here but so sorry if you've heard this one before:

I'm now trying to use Acid Music studio with an Alessis IO2. Whenever the IO2 is plugged into my laptop, I get no audio. Once I unplug it I get audio if I re-open the file (I'm using the sample audio thah comes with the software.) What am I doing wrong?

thanks,
Curt

If you're using the Alesis IO2 as your soundcard for recording then ACID will want to play back on that soundcard too.
tricky on a laptop if you don't have external speaker to plug in to the external Alesis unit and are wanting to use the built in speakers.

You should be able to switch between the laptops internal sound card and the Alesis without closing the Acid Studio session by clicking:
Options -> Preferences -> Audio device
Then select either Microsoft Sound Mapper or indows classic Wave driver as the audio device instead of the Alesis Asio Drivers

This will then allow the Laptop speakers to play back

ACID can't run 2 different sound cards at the same time.

Hi there,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Am I using the Alesis IO2 as a soundcard? I didn't think I was. Anywho, your suggestion didn't work. Still no sound while the Alesis is plugged in.

Update: The Alesis works as a monitor (I think you were saying that all along)

Youtube has no audio now though.
