Here is a weird one for me. I have a 4 or 5 year old hd24. When I play back a tune, any hard drive, I get a wicked static/clip on almost all the channels and the "hd free space" info flickers. Its not the hard drives I've checked. The clips will tranfer to computer via lightpipe and my motu2408. But again, it is not the hard drive as I have transfered the files via fireport and tracks are fine, something with the hd24. It also seems to be only with sample rate of 44.1. If, while the HD free space is flickering, I switch it to 48k, the flickering stops and no multi channel spikes.

I went to the doctor last week.

I said, "Doc, it hurts when I do this."

He said, "Don't do that."

Wow!, great info, thanks for the help:mad: Alesis says( for those other folks that may have the same problem0 I need to reinitialize hd24. Turn off unit, then hold record and play and while holding record and play turn on unit. Just like any of the older adats. I did this. After 2 times, as 'for now" my issue has not come back. Anyone else had this issue?

I don't know about the HD Free space, but is your word clocking correct?

I use a MOTU 2408 with my HD24 too. When I am using the hard drives of the HD24, I set the HD24 clock to internal. If I am using the HD24 as AD/DA converters with my MOTU, I set the Word clock to exteranl and let the 2408 be the master clock via BNC cables.

I am sure you have that part figured out, but I thought I'd just ask.

follow up

I dragged my HD24 out as I need to take it to a live gig but it still has this problem. I thought, lets open her up. I reseated all the ribbon cable. Then took some air and blew it all out. VERY dusty. I have been playing back audio for 1/2 now and so far no issues. The furthest I could go before was 3 minutes. Maybe it cured, maybe not we'll see. Hope this helps other folks.

Jim,
Actually I just read this.
That would have been my guess.
I work on computers and laptops ect....
Your alesis hd24 is like a computer.
Dust can cause problems.
Also a quick hit when using the spray air, hold can upright, do not shake, and also let what ever you sprayed sit for awhile to allow the stuff to evaporate.
Other things can cause problems.
Besides dust:
The term a bug in my computer, came about when a super computer got a moth inside of it, and well the bug shorted some circuits.....
Here in Hawaii, geckos get inside of them, and well they explode!
That would be my geico ad
Good trouble shooting Jim! :)

regards
Gary
