Answer- The D660s, a close relative of the D770, is a perfectly good dynamic cardioid mic. It is good for anything you would use a Shure SM58 on. In other words, it is a stage mic intended for vocals. In the studio, it would be a good choice for snare drum or a cranked up guitar amp. Some vocalists will sound good on it, particularly if it is connected to a real good preamp. On stage, it can be used for close mic'ing drums or amps, for vocals, or for sax/trumpet, etc. The whole emotion series are better mics than people give them credit for. I use the older D690 (along with Pearl Jam), and it's successor, D770, quite a bit. Among other things, it rocks on harmonica.-Richie
