hey gang, any opinions about either of these 2 mics? i will use which ever i buy for lead/back vocals, overhead drum, and distant guitar cab micing.

then one last question. Would it be stupid to buy one of each and use them together for the above aplications. would i be gaining some flexibility by have 2 different mics, or should i keep them both the same??

i can get them both for the same price. THis is all i want to afford right now, so im pretty sure i've narrowed it down to one of the 2 or 1 of each.

thanks for your time.

Anything but the AKG. What made you narrow down to these two?

C2000B is an all around better mic than the 3000B, and about $100 less.-Richie

The C3000B is harsh on most singers. (yes I owned/sold one!)

For someone with a very dark and/or "mumbly" kind of voice:) it could work well.

My money then is on the Shure between those two choices.

I dont really have a good answer for this one. I have done alot of looking around, in catalogs, web sites, ect. I'm really going off the name brands, and price comparisons, and thinking I want a nice all around mic for all the listed applications, but at this point not willing based on my equipment/experience to pay 500 and up for any mic at this point. I could afford to do that, but am choosing to stay within my needs, which is to put together a nice "demo" sounding recording.

Those two mics were in the lower middle of pricing. The shure, well its a shure so i figured it must be a decent mic. The AKG I heard a real sample from someone on the net that used it with my exact same equipment for vocals, and i was amazed at the smoothness of it. plus i have a AKGd112 for kick drum which is nice so i just figured the 3000 must be good too.

anyway...let me know what you think, i am still interested. I am still seaching the archives here at HR.com, but it is hard to narrow down due to the question. if i type in the search box the word "shure ksm27" then everything that has the word "shure" in it pops up so it takes a while to go through it all. same with "AKG c3000b"

thank you, i appreciate your help.

If it was me, I'd opt for a pair of Audio Technicas or ADK's. Get up as high on the chain as you can afford. For AT, 4033 or 4040. ADK, look here:http://www.adkmic.com/
Oh yeah, some folks are also having great results with Studio Projects B1's and B3's, and they are value!
