AKG C-1000s plastic inserts

OK, I've got 3 of these mics and I've never really used them, but I'm going to give them a try. I noticed that they have 2 plastic inserts for changing the polar pattern. The manual describes one of them(the larger one) but says nothing about the shorter one. Does anybody here know anything about the shorter one?

If memory serves well, one of the inserts changes the frequency response of the capsule. Maybe the AKG website might offer some info?

OK, I just checked AKG.com and it says:

The PB 1000 Presence Boost Adapter also supplied with the C 1000 S adds 3 to 5 dB of high-end enhancement between 5 and 9 kHz, improving clarity of speech and adding definition to instrument sounds.

I've got 3 of these lying around, so I'm gonna give them a chance.
