Hm, thing didn't take my post. From before....
.....
So I'm recording my band tomorrow. We've all had the week off for about 3 months now and we're quite ready to get things going.
Two weeks ago I formatted my hard drive and cleaned it up real good and installed a fresh copy of my OS, Win 2000.
Upon installing the fresh copy of Cubase 5.1, I fired the sucker up to load up some old files and give it a test run before the big day tomorrow. The files loaded, but the performance was INCREDIBLY groggy. Not only do the monitors "pop" everytime I open a window (the mixing window for instance), but when I click on any part to drag it the computer takes about 3 seconds to respond. It's insanely slow and I don't know why!
I'm running:
AMD1700 (running at about 1.45 ghz)
1024k of DDR RAM
40gb+70gb of 7200 HD
Aardvark Q10 with the new drivers from the Aardvark site (was using them before with no problem)
Any ideas? Something I'm missing? I checked the buffers already and made sure it's getting plenty. I'm just about to lose my mind!
Thanks guys,
-Rick, Detroit
