Hi, I have searched and researched the forums and googled, but I can't get a definitive answer or way to route a small mixer to computer and back for monitoring. I have an Alesis Multimix 6FX, and a SB Live digital on my computer. So, exactly, what cabling do I have to use let's say a mic on channel 1 and my guitar box on stereo channels 5-6? Do I send the output out the 2 track RCA jacks, or the AUX send....and then do I send the soundcard outputs to 2 track RCA in or some other routing. In my searching, I copied and pasted some scenarios but they rendered different setups. So, please assist me with a simple method that I could use, oh, remember I might want to use the effects on the Alesis, probably for vocals only. Thanks for listening to my needs and assisting me, DD

Where are the speakers that you're using connected to, the mixer or soundcard?

U have to use the MAIN MIX OUT from the mixer for your input to your soundcard. so i assume SB live has 1/8' I/O..so just get a Double 1/4' TRS to 1/8'. And to send back the signal from the computer to the mixer, use the outputs from the soundcard and insert it to the LINE IN 3/4 on the mixer or the STEREO AUX RETURN. so basically, u need TWO sets of Double 1/4' to TRS to 1/8' cords.

Thanks StudioMaster. I had a feeling you used the Aux returns as if you put it in to the RCA ins it would be a nono. I couldn't find this mentioned in any messages anywhere. So, when the sound is sent back from the computer I can monitor through the headphones or Control Room out through amp and speakers, right, while I record on other tracks, neat, gratefully, Psongman
