wow, nice web site john! it would take me alot of time to disect all that info on designing and building a studio (little by little i will go thru it and learn). I need to do some sound deadening cause the studio is right off of a highway. It's zoned commercial property, so if I ever started doing good enough, I could use that location for a proffessional studio. Right now its a big shop building. Its framed out with wood siding on the front and tin siding on the sides and back...a shingle roof (gabel) and real thick wood floor (block and teir). It has a wood burning heater, but, if you don't stand right next the the damn thing you'll freeze your ass off. It already has electrical outlets all over the place and i haven't noticed any ground problems at all. My uncle built it to do woodworking in and he was pretty much an ace at electrical and carpentry. I first of all need to keep some heat and air conditioning from escaping.and i was planning on putting up a wall that would section off a portion for my studio (15 ft. by 25 ft. aprox.). I have already gathered from reading some of the info on your site that i don't need parralell walls and 90 degree corners. What im wondering is this: should I finish it out like a house (fiberglass insulation between the studs and on top...then sheet rock the whole thing) or would there be a better route to go (but it has to be a shoestring budget). I already see that one inexpensive thing I could do is attatch some type of horizontal pieces of steel to the studs and mount the sheetrock walls to them. But i was thinking that if i could find some sheets of styrafoam pretty reasonable i could insulate with that instead of roll fiberglass....hell i don't really know, guess I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
thanks for your input john....and thanks for the link track rat
