aes vs lightpipe

can any one tell me if there is a noticable difference in recording quality b/w Aes/ebu and Lightpipe (adat) connections

I haven't noticed any real quality differences. I like the AES/EBU cables better (they lock into place and are more durable). However, I also like that with ADAT optical you can get 8 channels on one cable

The level of sound quality happens in the a/d and d/a conversions rather than in the file transfer wire. So you're basically choosing one or the other for the features.
