Advice to a newbie on his tracks

hey,
my name is justin and i do electronic pop music, and i'm new to recording vocals and such (also new to sonar, which i use)...and i'm just wanting to get some advice on mixing and effects and such. I use sonar 2 for tracking my Alesis Ion and recording my audio and vocals through a Marshal V67G condenser mic and a Studio Projects VTB1 tube mic preamp. I guess i'm just looking for advice and tips to better my production, because i know there are tons of very knowledgable folk on here. Here is the link to my mp3's.

We end this tonight....Well, when it started playing, it had a very cool sound. Very smooth, and very full. Sounds like you've done a good job on it. It's a very good song, and very well recorded. I don't think I have much help for you, as I like it as is. Maybe someone else can tear it up some, but I think it is a pretty good recording. Vocals could use something, as they seem a bit dry, but the music seems to ask for vocals that aren't super polished. It made the vocals distinctive. I'd say cool tune.

Hi

I listened to "We end this tonight". That's pretty good. I don't like the drum sound but if you work with an Alesis, you might be limited in that area (compared to Roland). The vocals are not distinct enough. I think you are trying to have a "Depeche Mode" approach for your vocals, try to cut in the low and boost in the mid (around 2K). Overall, that's very good.

Note: The vocals on "The girl I always dream" are better. Another very good song.

Hey, I think the choice of sounds let your tracks down. The synths and the drums are quite thin and weedy, I guess becuase there has been so much of this music made recently you are up against a lot of reference points. You should really try to fatten up your synth sounds and get better drum sounds. Listen to Daft Punk and Air and hear the sounds they use, heck even kraftwerks sounds are cool as fuck. Other than that - good songs.
