Sounds good bub! I might bring up the vocals a hair. Got a nice sounding band there folks! Can't wait to hear more of your stuff. Got a CD? I would buy it for sure!

Eh, I'm having problems with NWR right now. I can't listen to anything.

Everytime I click a link it sends me to a Page Cannot Be Displayed page. It's all the songs, not just this one, so don't think it's on your end. Maybe it's my computer.

Greetings,
Could you guys please take a listen to my song on Nowhere Radio? I'll freely admit that I'm still learning the recording process. I'd really appreciate any feedback you'd care to give.

Dude, you have to be kidding.... Your recording sounded better than mine.......... that's not good news for me. I didn't hear anything bad about the recording and the song was cool too. A little "Violent Femmes-ish"........maybe? This song could probably be on the radio right now........sounds polished to me.

I have always had a thing for "Winona.".......... ever since "Bram Stokers- Dracula."

I can listen to anything else on nowhere radio except this file.

Go to the general help section on NWR, Windows Media Player is not the best player to use, and will not work with all files on NWR.

Thanks waldo

I right-clicked and saved the m3u file and opened it with MusicMatch. Thanks for the tip on windows media player not working with all files.

The mix sounds good to me and I generally don't get into Country style music (I know, strange for a Southun dude) but I like it man. Kinda Rock A Billy.

Blessings!

Thanks for all the kind words. This forum has been a tremendous help for me as I've been learning how to record. Acoustic micing techniques, compression, EQ, what monitors are good ones ... These are just a few of the things that I've learned from all of you.

I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to listen to my song and offer your opinions.

Thanks again!

I've checked into why some folks are having problems getting the file to play. Apparently, the file will play in any rated player, such as Real Audio, except Windows Media Player. I'm guessing that the people that were having trouble were using Windows Media Player.

Here's what I found in a FAQ on the NoWhere site:

"If an artist allows public downloads of the MP3, then the WMP option is automatically enabled, otherwise the playback defaults to MP3, which is a protected stream format that is hard to copy/save."

Since I didn't select the "Allow User Download" option, the file will only play in players besides Windows Media Player.

Hope that helps ...

Yeah I was using Soundclick (testing out the player) and decided to uninstall, forgetting that I had no similar player on my system. Other than WMP.

Problem fixed.

The bass might be a little too low overall, but that's about all that came to mind. The song is catchy as hell and certainly wouldn't be out of place on college radio.

Charva--Sorry, I forgot to answer the question you posted about whether we have a CD. We are currently recording our CD ourselves. We we are going to have it finished before the summer, and we'll be selling it on our website, www.holleycarbines.com.

Thanks for the interest!

Wow! That song is very catchy! I didn't here anything on that song wrong. Good Job Rookie!

ROOKIE,

No you're not.

Tight tune. I can't tell, due to my sonic, techno, computer ignorance, but the the mix sounded very balanced yet missing that hard presence/punch. This could very well be from the mp3 convertion and my unrefined ears.
Nice arrangment. I'm kinda a sucker for the "solo/lead guitar proper" to round the arrangment out but, that is just me.

Nice tune. Have you heard of a defunked band called "The Gear Daddies"? They are fromn MN just and so is Winona. Same style as this song. I think you'd like them if you like your own style.

theron.

Rookie --

This reminds me of Wilco/Wild Seeds/Violent Femmes -- I don't like to compare all the time, but I love it. The beat is especially fun (and impressive in the chorus!)

And that guitar solo at the end! My kinda stuff!

Dude, Loved it! Old 97's meets the Ramones! Made me smile very big. Vocal energy was great. The nervey shaky thing was very fitting for this tune. I'm expecting you possibly recorded this song on horseback! May I suggest a clip- clop of a cowbell! Serious this tune screams for Cowbell!;)

Just wanted to respond to the last couple of posts. I can't believe folks take the time to listen and offer advice for free. Thanks so much! Anyway ...

theron--I'll take another listen and focus on the punch/presence factor. I'm guessing this might be a matter of EQ ...

webcyan--The song will apparently not play in Windows Media, but seems to work okay with other players. That might be why you couldn't get it to play.

gmiller and bluelot--Your comparisons made my day!!

spartrick--Glad you liked it!
