Yeah, mixers run cheaper than audio interfaces precisely because they don't have to have all the audio to digital and digital to audio converters that a multi-input interface has. The hardware for mixing is simpler (read "cheaper") than the hardware for those conversions.
You'll end up paying a lot more for a mixer that you could actually get some use out of in a computer based studio.
