Hi people,

Well my knowledge of mixing desks or consoles is very small. All I want to ask is, well my mixer at the moment is a Euro 1204fx pro, but this mixer does not have enough functions for me. I would like to able about to play back the mix through my mixer from sequencing software. This mixer is not capable of doing this. I would like any advice on a mixer for my home use, which has this function has maybe a few more channels and insert points. I was looking at a soundcraft spirit fx8 but I no this is mainly a live mixer but is it good for home use as well?

Thank you so much in need of help.

Alex

How many outputs from the pc do you have?

I use a Yamaha MG16/4 and am very pleased with my results.

Going digital is the only way to get transport control in an inexpensive form. Look into something like the M-Audio Project Mix I/O

I got a nice m-audio firewire 410 interface with 4 inputs and 8 outputs. So the yamaha is good yeah and i can spend my mix back through my desk? Cant afford a project i/0 and not got the space.

The eight outputs are provided for mixdowns only. I use mine as 4 stereo pairs. For general recording and overdubbing all you need to hear is a single stereo mix, so bring the outputs of your soundcard back to inputs 7/8 and assign this to alt 3+4 by pushing the 'mute' button. Be careful with the level while tracking so as to avoid feedback.

You don't need a new mixer --- you just need to learn to use the one you've got.

There's are two other ways to bring the mix back if you've got inputs already in the 7/8 ins --- the stereo aux returns and the tape input.
