Hello all.
This is my first post here on the forums. I have been playing music for most of my life and have done some basic recording before. I have a question about my soon to be home studio.
I currently own an M-Audio FireWire 410 audio interface. I have used this in apple's garageband to record a bit, and it worked fine. I have just ordered a few things for Christmas to accomodate living in an Apartment.
My drummer/brother/roomate just bought an electronic drumset. We wanted a way to practice/record without getting evicted. I play guitar and normally use my Marshall, but instead will be using a Boss GT-3 guitar processor. My thoughts are as follows:
I ordered a Behringer UB1202 Mixing board, a headphone amplifer, and other cables and such. My thoughts are that I can use the stereo outs on both the electronic drums and the guitar processor and go into the stereo inputs on the channels in the mixing board. Also, any other mics or DI boxes can go into there as well. Now form there, I will use the control room outs to go to my headphone amplifier, to hear the mix coming from the board.
Now here is my question. If I use the main L and R outputs from my board, can I go into the line inputs on my M-Audio FireWire 410 and record 2 tracks in garage Band? Will these need to be mono or stero tracks? I think this should work, as I vaugely remember doing a mono main out into the interface from a powered PA Mixer, but I wanted to double check with my new setup.
This was the cheapest way to utilize the interface I already had. I know that I will not get to use any effects or plug in's on the separate tracks on my mixer, but I figured they will be processed enough. I wanted a way to record many tracks at once, without having to spend another $300-$400 on a new interface.
Thanks in advance for your help!
