See, two related issues with my use of Cool Edit 2.1 or AA 1.5 are:
1 WDM drivers mean that when I route signals through external devices when I'm overdubbing, there's a lag which Cool Edit/AA attempts to correct with a software adjustment, but that doesn't work if...
2 The session is really big. And not only that, if the session is really big and I've got a lot of EQs and compressors and the occasional effect on twenty or twenty-five tracks, then it makes my machine work so hard that I shut off the level meter cuz I notice a difference in performance. I get half a minute of playback before the stuttering starts.
So, you beat that combination of dumb drivers and overweight math by using ASIO drivers with 2.0?
