The upgrade price from any version is cool in deed. Too bad, it doesn't support Windows 2000. I'll definitely consider it on my next PC, then.

I'm a bit puzzled about Soundbooth is available on Mac while Audition isn't. What's the point?

Read `em and weep. Expect it to start shipping by November of 2007, but they are taking pre-orders now.

It looks like it finally records midi and supports VSTi. And the upgrade is only $99. Too cool!

Are you sure about recording and editing midis?
Hmmm.....
It adds a midi host and uses VSTi but I don't think that's the same as recording and editing midis. I hope I am wrong...

Well, this is what it says at their site.

Quote...

VSTi virtual instrument support with MIDI piano roll

Enjoy support for a wide range of virtual instruments in your music production. Record and edit MIDI in the piano roll editor.

...End Quote

I suppose that is what they mean.

I personally think it's been downhill since 1.5... which I still use.

I'll have to check it out to see I supose.

I really like the idea of control surface integration, ASIO and some of the other "standards" but I can get by pretty well since I have a mixing board and more or less use it like a tape machine.

I use a Ghost->HD24XR and dump or record via lightpipe to AA2.0 right now that has asio, control etc, so what will I gain by upgrading...midi and VSTi (don't use)...Adobe has some very intuitive software and just needs to get more recording oriented (I guess)...thanks for the heads-up, and I will probably upgrade so I can say I have 3.0 to my clients, I've got Cubase3 and hardly use it....another hundred dollars.

I have a ghost and was thinking about a similar setup with an HD24XR or maybe a RADAR II. Do you have outboard effects for monitoring? that's the only thing I was woried about as far as the clients perspective.

Can't wait for this one. I just hope 3 is more stable than 2 was. All the bugs really chapped my ass. AISO was a great addition though.

i only use my AA-2 for vocals anyway so i doubt Midi and most of my VST's are also avail as DirectX's except probably the vocal usage for my antares AVOX which i can usually avoid with my Presonus Eureka as well as the multiple Waves bundles i have incoperated into my AA-2

i guess maybe the upgrade is more usefull from a production standpoint then for my "vocal/recording" only purposes.....

good to see they are upgrading it though, i might cop it, but honestly don't see a need for it at this point.......

If it were up to me, I'd keep it exactly like version 1.5 (2.0 sucked so bad) except add in VSTi/MIDI support and "true" 24-bit recording.

Then I may even consider going back to it from Reaper, since I just used it for so long and got so used to the interface and had pretty much learned it inside & out.

i'm just curious... what did everyone hate about 2.0??? i loved it and 3.0 actuallly looks like a competition...

"listen to tracks as you record them, complete with applied effects..."
wanted to do this with audition since i started using pro tools just for this reason. I wanted to use Guitar Rig 2 and Amplitube but listen to the processing before i recorded the track.

".. wide range of VSTi virtual instruments. Audition supports them all."
'nuff said.

I tried the 2.0 trial a month or two ago and I really liked it for three or four reasons, but the biggest was that for the first time since Cool Edit 1.2, I had a software that I could do overdubs with on my machine, and every damn track started at the 0.0000 mark. This, plus the ASIO compatibility and realtime effects and believe it or not, the metronome, all went to making 2.0 the software I've been wanting since Cool Edit 1.2. I almost bought it. Then they announced 3.0. Well, gee, what's a person to do? lol

I got tired arguing with people with people about AA2,0.
My first words were always: Try to use it for a while and then you will never turn back to 1,5 or CEP.
But people try it for a halv an hour and post some statements which have no sense at all.
AA2,0 is not comparable with any previous versions so don't compare it.
I was using CEP, AA 1,5 and now AA 2,0.
But soon, it's gonna be AA 3,0.

So basically, if someone doesn't like AA 2.0 they're a moron and their reasons make no sense at all.

Regardless, as much as I like AA, it's still way behind just about every other DAW out there. Well, until 3.0 I guess...

what do you mean by it's "behind" all other DAW's? not questioning your opinion just want clarity on this, being that as far as recording from home i've only tried

ACID PRO (hated dat shit wit a passion),
Cool Edit Pro (used to be my companion)
and now AA-2 (would marry dat shit if i could get some song placements)

my partner uses Magix Studio or somethin like that with a Neuman mic and i think a DBX channel strip and the finished product comes out crisp on CD for us to not be pro-engineers or rockin with any high-end equiptment.
