Adobe Audition 3.0, Alesis Multimix 8 usb, Shure sm58 no sound

Hi,
I feel really lucky to find this sight. I have AAD 3.0, the alesis and the shure mic. I have a Toshiba with the AMD 2x anthalon. I went into my setting and enabled the ASIO (not sure what that is), and also enabled the input to the USB with CODEC? Not sure what CODEC is. I want to be able to sing into the Shure mic and record with another Shure KSM 109. Completely lost. Thanks.

Was there a manual in your AA3 box?

It clearly explains how to make the software work.

You need to load the drivers for the Alesis mixer to be recognized when you plug it into the USB port. The latest should be available at the Alesis website. Also do the firmware update if there is one available on the website. I have the Multimix 16 and before the firmware update only 2 Channels showed up in my DAW. Once you get it working it, I think you'll be happy - it's a great mixer (albeit modest)....
