im just wondering what settings on audition i should set in order to get the best studio quality sound, or what effects i should add to my vocals to make it seem more studio quality...i use a Samson mic (i forget what type) but it connects to my USB...its not a bad mic, its good for what i need, but i just want to know if thereare any settings i can change to get a more professional studio quality sound out of audition...thanks alot

probably not. the 'professional sound' comes from the signal chain. so you would start with a better mic and a good preamp and your recordings will sound much better without resoting to using effects to try and fix a sound.

you can try to make up for it with EQ and such, but trying to add air with EQ makes the sound more noisy, and it gets fatiguing to the ears. so yeah, the sound quality doesn't come from the software, it comes from the equipment you use to record with.

The soundcard, mic, and mic preamp will be a bigger factor in the sound than settings in Audition.

What soundcard do you have?
Do you have a mic pre?
Is it the USB mic that you have?
What kind of sound are you going for?
Is it for voiceover/podcasts or vocals for music?

Well, at the most basic level, make sure the software is set to record at 16 or 24 bit and 44.1 khz. Other than that, you probably don't want to mess with the sound too much when recording. Save the processing for when mixing.

The previous poster's thoughts regarding signal chain are very appropriate. The better the mic, preamp, and converters are, the better you will sound.
