I own 4 of them - 2 tube, 2 solid-state multipattern. I like them.

ADK.........Audio DeutschKraft.

What does it tell you when people (i.e; from all accounts, 2 American studio owners) market what appears to be a range of almost "off the shelf" mics from a Chinese manufacturer, using a distinctly Teutonic sounding brand name.

When I contact a retailer who is pushing these mics an ask where they come from I am told by salesman "A"......."Oh, they are made in Germany as far as I know".........and then from salesman "B"........"aahhh, I'm not sure but they might be made in China for a German company".

There is a range of mics from the same source being imported directly into Australia...........again using a name which has a strong Teutonic flavour........."MANN" Microphones. These are also off the shelf crap.

Just imagine if the major mic manufacturers of the past had been French, Italian or whatever....................I wonder what strange names these new imports would be marketed under.

Actually, they can't even spell their own name correctly. It ought to be spelled like you just did "Deutschkraft," but the way they do it is "Deutchkraft." They're definetly Chinese made, not German. In Germany we had BPM who tried to fool everyone into thinking their microphones were German made quality products at a ridiculous price. Instead they were Chinese off the shelf microphones with low QC at a, well, ridiculous price. You can have (almost) the same stuff as a Behringer B1 or B2 at 1/3 of the price.

Hey Chris, I like that...could make for some interesting names...

The mics sound good. I have one of them and love them. The studio projects mics everyone raves about are also made in china, so I think that argument is bunk. I like the adks a ton and they sound great. They are not available very widely and right now many of their mics are on back order. Many studios use them pretty often. They are good stuff, especially when considered in bang for buck votes.

I'll second the vote on the ADK's. I have 2 A-51 (sequentially numbered, although with the reportedly spotty QC, take that FWIW) that I'm fairly happy with. They're the only mic's in my locker right now, although I'll be adding a couple of 57's next month, and possibly a C-1 or a 4033 this fall. They're like any other mic-they sound great on certain stuff, and like fermented whale crap on others. It all depends on the source, and the tastes of the user...Compared to the other players in that price range, I liked these the best. YMMV......

Mastahnke,

I think you missed the point of my post..............I didn't pass comment on how the mics perform. Comment was only passed on the practice of marketing "off the shelf" mics from Asian manufacturers under names which could be misconstrued as having European connections and frequently using questionable/misleading information about both the "heritage" and origins of these mics. This is something ADK seem to be blatantly guilty of..........at least in Australia.
