Any fans of the ADK line? I found a Vienna model quite reasonable, have a friend with a studio who swears by them. Never heard you guys talk about them at all.

I have one of their mics... a Hamburg, IIRC. I did find that it was a bit intolerant of insufficient phantom power supplies. YMMV. Otherwise, my recollection is that it sounds decent, but it isn't my favorite mic for my voice; that award goes to either the CAD M9 or my long ribbons with upgraded transformers, depending on what sound I'm going for.

A few years ago, the Vienna was getting a fair amount of praise around here for use on female vocals.

ADK makes many excellent mics, and have done so for many years. Occasionally, there are some duds (e.g., A48, SC-1). ADK has had so many models and versions of their mics (nearly 100) that it can easily be difficult to keep up with all that is out there. For the most part, they are excellent mics for the price, including the numerous discontinued models. The newer 3 Zigma CHI mics are simply wonderful. The Custom Shop offerings are robust and top shelf. The ADK AP 1 and AP 2 preamps (with swappable input transformers and discrete op amps) and the CLA 1 and CLA 2 compressors (with swappable discrete op amps), are world class.

Perhaps most importantly, Larry V. (owner of ADK and 3 Zigma) is most accessible, and will talk your ear off with all things audio related. Great service.
