I think I should buy you a beer for buying two Studio Projects C1's :D That has to piss off you know who...

For the record, Steve Perry never crossed my mind. If you want some trivia, I was going to call it Pet Projects, but I got voted down, and since it is our intention to bring out an entire line of electronics, ie: mic-preamplifiers, eq's, compressors, etc., and they are all for the project studio user, we decided on Studio Projects.

Anyway, I hope you dig the mics.

thanks

P.S. Did I thank the Zekeman for buying a mic? If not Zekeman...Thanks :D :D :D

P.P.S. Kaci's new song just broke Billboards Top 100. It went Gold in Europe, and is climbing the US charts fast. Ted Perlman was the producer and engineer. He used the Studio Projects C1 on all her vocals for the entire album. Humm...you can get a hit with a $200.00 mic......

Check out her site and listen to the song at:

I think that says it all. Actions speak louder than words. Of course you'll still have people crying and slinging snot everywhere because they've spent more for their mics, and yet still can't get results.

If I can't get results, I don't think it will be because of my cheap mic locker. Would I like to have a better higher-end equipment list? Yep. But it's not critical.

I think it'a an exciting time to be getting into home recording. I think we're only limited by our own abilities and visions, not by equipment, due to inexpensive DAW's and other equiptment.

The vast majority of us won't use this opportunity as a spring board into something more substantial. There's just too much competition out there from guys like the folks at rec.audio.pro that really know what they are doing. But, the thing is, a few will. A few will come out of the home recording venue and record some hits. It's gonna happen. It's inevitable. Why not one of us?

I would just be happy if I could parlay it into a living.

One things for sure. It won't happen for any of us that are willing to set limits for ourselves because of not having $100,000 worth of recording equipment, or who are willing to listen to all the naysayers.

In the context of "humble semi-fanatical student hobbiest": If I'm satisfied with the end result (inspite of my singing/timing short-comings), it's a hit!

I was made a good offer on a pair of C1000's, but between travel and the shoot-out post, I wound up going with the SP's.

BTW - My apologies, Emeric for not getting back to you. I'm not an important player with my company, but they sure keep me busy! I really appreciated your attempt to help me out. Thanks. :)

What part of Torrance, Allan? I had a little house off Sepulveda and 228th. Worked at Pacific Stereo and gave flight instruction out of Rolling Hills Aviation. Played with a couple different bands at Alpine Village. Used to swipe wood from construction sites for bon fire parties at Whites Point in Pedro. Those were the days.....:D

Hey Rick,

We are off of Madison Street between PCH and Sky Park, by the Airport. I am a transplant New Yorker since 1974. I live on the Peninsula, don't steal wood anymore, but scream at all the bicycle racers hogging the narrow roads on the hill.

I still do sessions, hang out with a few old friends from LA, go diving at Catalina, and try to stay mellow. At 50, I am feeling my age, and my hands are starting to hurt, so I get in as much as I can. Stop by if your ever in the neighborhood.

South Bay is great. I would not leave here for all the tea in China....well maybe I would. :D

C7 Suspended in Mid-Air..

Dude:Let's try this again, shall we?

The name of the website: HOMErecording.com

The emphasis is on the word HOME here, Skippy...

If you are more interested in the nuances of the Neumanns, Royers, and Telefunkens, may I suggest another website
for your aural pleasures...

www.PROrec.com

The emphasis being, of course, on the word "Pro" here.
And the current article there is on the perils of the Chinese mic (seriously).

And quit being a poopy-butt.

Doug,

Very interesting reading. The last paragraph sums it up pretty well.

"So the problem with China is that the problem is not just China. The market is poised for a huge change. Either 797 and its Chinese bretheren will continue to penetrate the market, gaining credibility and pushing out the prime brands, or German, American, and Eastern European mic companies will rise to the challenge and meet 797 Audio on its own terms by lowering prices and keeping the buyer's favor. Only time will tell. I for one don't want to see the end of the classic mic manufacturers. On the other hand, though, change is inevitable, and we all have to change, or die."

And this came from a guy who admittedly didn't like the Chinese mics.
