hey, i am setting up a small recording setup at home.

what i have so far is.
aardvark direct pro q10
4 carvin d42's tom/snare mics
1 carvin d44 bass mic
2 carvin cm90e's
1 shure sm-58
and a computer capable to handle recording quite a few tracks at once.

i was wondering what do u think i should get next to add to the studio. i was thinking either a nice vocal mic(studio projects c1, or Blue Baby Bottle), or a nice preamp.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, also take in consideration, i am a 16 year old working 20 hours a week getting minumum wage. i am on a tight budget.

You didn't say if you have a mixing console
and I don't know anything about the Aardvark. Can those do 48V Phantom power? If not you have to consider that when going with a condenser mic.

A good quality preamp is a must have as far as I'm concerned unless you have a console with some great pre's in it like a Neve. But then there is the argument for a good condenser. I'd get both but it's gonna chew up some budget if you do.

yeah, they have 48 volt phantom power. built in mic pre's and everything for mixing in the software

If I we're you I'd get a pair of SDC like MXL 603's. Then a Studio-Projects B-1 for guitar amps and some voices. Then get M-Audio BX-5's or for cheaper look for a pair of used SP-B5's. All that would be about 500 bucks. None of the pieces of gear are as good as a Bue mic, but I think getting all of those will make you be able to get better results rathher then just getting the Blue.

thanks for the advice

thanks a bunch, i will look into those
