Hi all. Lets say there was a song from back in the day that you love but didnt have a solo. You think that song should have a blazing solo and wanted to add your own. How would one go about doing this?
I'd like to be able to add guitar parts to songs that are on my favorite cd's. I'm not tech guru but i assume that software is the only way to get this done. I have used recorders in the past like a br1600 but that is the extent of my recording knowhow. I would also like to be able to burn or otherwise share these recordings with friends. Any help is much appreciated.

Note that the songs you are talking about (professionally released albums) are copyrighted.

Copy the tracks to your computer or into your stand-alone recorder. In a DAW (cpmputer recording software), move the track into a new project. Open up a new track and record the guitar part. Mix, export to a new stereo WAV, burn. Note that it will take a small amount of luck and skill to get the new track to sit right in the mix. More likely it is going to sound like an over-dubbed part on a song (think guitar karaoke).
