Hey all,

I've been using Addictive Drums 2 along with Reaper and for now my usual way of using them is to select a kit I like the sound of then in the Beats section find one I want for example Alternative Rock Beat 19 and then using the different Variants ( Sidestick, Toms, Cymbals ) drag them onto my track and place them for different sections of my song.

Going with the above i'll have.

Sidestick for the verse > Toms for the bridge > Cymbals for the Chorus.

However the issue I ran into when watching the perceived loudness for the track when playing it through the verse to the chorus, the Bridge with the Toms was much louder than the Verse and Chorus which isn't ideal with the Chorus usually being the loudest section of the song.

I would have thought the beats variants would have been put together so that when used there is a consistent volume level right across ? Is there a way round this ? I could decrease the overall Velocity for that section but then the Kick may be much quieter which i'd prefer to keep consistent through out if possible.

Also when creating your drums from scratch on Midi how do you go about deciding the velocities for each kit piece ? I would probably go more down this route rather than using the Presets if I had a better understanding of this but as I worry one element may be too quiet or not at the right level in comparison to others I've just opted to use the Presets.

Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated.
