Just bein a smart ass. I love my ADATs too. I briefly looked into a few 2" machines and while they're getting more affordable (well, under $10,000 anyway) the tape cost made me soil my armour.
Besides NEVER, EVER having a problem with mine, and having
a good tech friend who works at an old Alesis Authorized Service center in NYC, I have 2 last things 2 say;
ADAT's RUUUUUUUUUUULE!!!!!!
I had an ADAT down for a week or so...$120.00 later and it's like new. I know I've got my money's worth already, and when I get the new HD24 I'll probably sell one of them and just keep one for compatabillity.
I don't know if ADAT'S rule,
But I do agree that they are cool,
I learned a little trick back in School,
The job is easy if you have the right tool.
So for the time being I must just drool,
I want an HD24, but I aint no fool.
I must convince my wife she need's it Too!
The cool thing about the Tascam DA-series is that you can alter the message showing on the meters when starting up. I have four and when I power them up they show :
Mr.Q: they must rule in absentia, because while I've completed half a dozen projects with my PC multi-tracker since August-2001 a certain pile of ADAT tapes remain unmixed.
