I'm looking for a PCI interface with at least 8 channels of ADAT I/O. A Frontier Designs Montana 16 channel expander would be perfect as I already have the Dakota to go with it. Will consider other devices that will work with Win XP.

Are we talking lightpipe here? When you say 8 channels, are you talking 1 ADAT channel for 8 audio channels, or do you want 8 ADAT channels as in connecting 8 ADAT devices.

I just got an MAudio Profire Lightbridge which gives me 4 ADAT channels (32 channels of audio at < 96k). In the latter case, you could always chain two of those I believe.

Looking for 1 pair ADAT in/out on lightpipe for 8 channels of audio in/out. PCI interface not USB or Firewire.

Hmmm I don't know of any, and would have recommended the Profire Lightbridge (I know it's not PCI). You could always get a PCI firewire card, and use the Lightbridge with it?

A quick Google of "PCI ADAT" yielded a few results...

RME vs. Marion

I'm looking for the same thing. found a few items from RME and there's the Marc A or the Marc X by Marion. Has anyone used these? Looking to buy, but I'd like to find reviews that a novice can decipher.

I just learned about the "Marc" units but have heard nothing about them. I've got a line on an EMU 1820 that has more than I need on it but will give me the extra lightpipe I/O I need. As long as I have no compatibility and/or timing issues with the Frontier Dakota, I'll be ok.

Heads up on the Frontier. Far as what I've been able to determine the 'Dakota at least, runs on an older 5vdc PCI power. Apparently there's still PCI' on the boards but at a lower voltage. I'm going through that now with a new DAW-
I'd love to say go there' as it's been rock solid for years. No word from Frontier on an updated card either.

Your missing the point. I already have a working Dakota in my system and have the slots for the Montana or any other PCI card I end up with.

The scuttlebut is that Frontier has no intention of making anymore PCI devices.

Right. Sorry. Saw 'Montana, but missed that!
