ADAT Headlife?

Hey Guys, What can you expect for "headlife" in a non-smoking Home studio environment? Also, what do new heads cost?


Just wondering-I have a friend who has 2 Blackface ADATS and he wants $1300 for the pair.
I'm just wondering.
I have no idea how many hours are on them.

I could be wrong but that sounds a bit pricey for Blackfaces....

1200-1500hrs I think is the expected head life. Dont pay more then $1000-$1200 for the pair. And that only if the hours are relatively low.

FYI There is a guy that live close to me here in Dallas that is selling two with about 700hrs AND the BRC for $1200!

my experience with adat headlife is a lot different that 1200-1500 hours.I know many people who are on 4k hours.I thought I read from that alesis figures anywhere from 2k to 5k hours deppending on the care. Mine(3) are 1200,1900,2500 ruffly without a single problem. Someome correct me if I'm wrong but 1200-1500 is low. Also I saw I think in Sam Ash Oct.2000 catalog that the LX 20's are down to $999.00 EACH. gO FOR NEW IF YOU CAN SWING it. Blackfacers, dump'em while you can. Jim
