i was woundering if there is a alternative to useing the adat edit software. can the EWS88D SOUND CARD DO THE SAME THING IM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING KINDA CHEAPER
What the Adat/Edit does that other things won't do is to accept audio from an ADAT, allow editing (don't change its length, though) and put the audio back on the ADAT tape in exactly the same place.
If you don't need to put it back on an ADAT then any ADAT lightpipe card will work.
The thing the ADAT/Edit will NOT do is run in Windows2000 or XP.
The adat Edit PCR Card works well for me. The Adat editing software sucks quite a bit of rump. The transfer software is about as easy as they come though. I use Windows ME, but it no workee on 2000 or XP like Armand Said. Also, I got my card used on ebay for $150.00. The software upgrade is free from Alesis, so you can buy an older card. They have not changed the card since its creation.
You can download the newer version from there site. If you use it open the mixer window and make sure the outputs are set to 9 and 10 for each channel
or you will have no sound from the sound card. They default to output 1 and 2 when opening and you have to reset them to 9 and 10.
