Hi. New to the forum. I'm trying to find a way to get more "live" inputs into my Digi001. Can I use an ADAT for this? Run 8 inputs into an ADAT, then run the lightpipe out for realtime recording into protools LE? That, with the 8 analog ins would give me a total of sixteen (for recording drums and guitars live) IF this is possible. Anyone ever tried this?? Any info would be appreciated, as Alesis never wants to return my emails. (what a surprise!) Thanks..........................

That'll work like a champ. The only thing you won't be able to do is something like recrding to the computer on ADAT channels 1 thru for while playing back from the computer on ADAT channels 5 thru 8 (the ADAT will only take an analog input or a digital input but not both at the same time). But you can do what you discribed very easy.

Thanks for the help!! I had a feeling this would probably work. I was thinking about a Mackie 1604 VLZ pro to feed the ADAT on the way into ProTools. What do you think??????????? This setup would be used mainly for tracking drums. Thanks again.

The Mackie would be a good choice. It has direct outs on the first 8 channels as well as inserts on every channel that can be utilized as direct outs. Decent mic pres.
