Adapter Problem with Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro

I am attempting to connect a record player to my mackie via individual phono female to 1/4" TRS adapters on the left and right channels. I am having absolutely no success and am wondering if I am using the wrong adapter.

I need to transform my RCA males (L/R) into 1/4" TRS males and I thought this adapter would be suitable; can anyone tell me why this isn't working? I'm using the balanced/unbalanced female 1/4" on channels 5 and 6. The mixer is brand new and the channels work beautifully with a regular 1/4" TS instrument cable, yet there is no sound at all with the new adapters thrown into the line.

Someone please help me!! :(

Try using your mic pre channels

Another idea would be to connect into the line-in of channel 1 and 2 and use the mic pre(trim) to see if you can raise the signal that way. The 1/4" TRS is before the mic pre so this may get you what you want. Don't be surprised if you have to turn the trim to about 3 o'clock to get a decent level though.
 
You can not connect the output of a phono to a line level input without using an RIAA preamp. You'll need to go from turn table to a standalone RIAA preamp (you can use a stereo reciever if it's equiped with a phono input as the preamp and the take the "TAPE OUT" as a line level output) then it's line output to a line input on the Mackie.
 
Track Rat is absolutely right. An RIAA pre-amp is necessary not only to raise the signal level, but also because of the built in EQ curve - that's why a mic preamp won't work.

The record player is at a different impedance ya dumb shit! Thats why when you plug a record player into your tape in port on your home stereo, it sounds like crap.

Pretty rude for someone who knows so little, tyler-rookie.......

It has much less to do with impedance and much more to do with the RIAA EQ curve being applied to the signal....... (as Track Rat already correctly stated......)

It would do you a lot of good to do less post-writing and more post-reading... you might actually learn a thing or two.....!
