I'm connecting my Audio Buddy preamp, which has 1/4" TS outputs, to my Audiophile 2496, which has RCA inputs, so I need an adapter cable.

Will it make a huge difference in sound quality whether I use a $4 Hosa/Radioshack cable or a $16 Mogami cable?

Well, I'm sure you can find 16 tons of polemic exposition about gold and silver and foonillium cables.

Hosa doesn't receive tons of applause for quality. Here is a site you might want to check out for decent cables.

markertek.com

If you get Mogami, make sure you get the upper end cables. They make "other" lower grade cables. I have some of those cheaper Mogamis and they work out all right.

if your connecting an audio buddy to a audiophile 22/96, and wont be patching a whole lot, then no, your cable wont matter. get the hosa.
