Hi

I listened to the tune. I really like your singer's voice. And the song generally. It is let down by the guitar though. It sounds as if your singer is playing her own guitar and well focused on the voice (which is great!) but pretty much ignoring her strumming. Maybe that's not the case, but... If you could replace the guitar with a "more practiced" take it'd be great. If you've recorded this in such a way that you can't replace the guitar, maybe you can record another good take of guitar and use that as a double to mask the original?

If she sat there in my room and sang and played that I'd be blown away. But when you record it, the standard has gotta be higher because after repeated listens all those imperfections jump out and throttle the listener.

Hope that is useful. (BTW I can sing nowhere near as well as her and can't play guitar very well either. I'm just reporting what my ears hear.)

Good luck. And thanks for the listen :)

I like the song. But I'd like to hear a better recording.

The girl can sing pretty good. But some places she either sounds off tune or maybe just too dry (meaning no FX).

I recommend, just like aspiring, doing seperate takes. The guitar once. Then just the singing.

Singing with a little more passion. I agree that if this girl was performing this in front of me live, I'd be just so royally impressed. But on the record, the person has to try that much harder to make it feel they're there performing this.

The backup vox sometimes sounded too loud, sometimes sounded just right vol., and sometimes just plain in the way. I didn't like the "vocal solo" with the backup vox in places. That's just me. Maybe EQ the guitar and the backup vox out of each other's way or something. They're definitely on each other's big toe. :)

Around 2:27, seemed like she definitely went off tune.

Overall a nice song. Kinda early Michelle Branch or whatever her name was. Made me think of her for some reason. I'd listen to it again. :)

The actual tune itself sounds pretty good, enjoyed it. I agree with what is being said about the strumming. It's off, and should be tracked seperately if you have the chance to record this again. Vocals are off in quite a few spots, and pretty much any vocal intonation problems in a song will get on the listener's nerves, so it's wise to ensure those don't exisit in your next recording. For what you have, I'd say that the mix is acceptable based on your recording conditions, but if you can (like the others have said), try do multiple takes, and get a solid one down. Good luck.

i thought it was good until the backup vocals came in. i didn't mind the changes in dynamics with her strumming at all since i'm used to being around imperfect musicians. those backup vocals just took the song to cheesy central and i couldn't handle it anymore.

Those harmony vocals come in on the left while the rest is just to the right. I would double the guitar and vocal and pan it either way. I'd keep the harmony at roughly the same pan as the vocal and I would also give it some mid range tweak

no, they were tracked seprate

Nice song. The guitar seems kind of chorusy and thin, almost like it is out of phase. The vocal is too dry. I would scrap the count-in, as it clearly came from the guitar track and sounds completely different than the main vocal. The harmony is alright, but I don't like the panning. I need something else on the right to balance it out.
