If you're talking about "Climbing Vine"
I'd say you did an awesome job on that bass.
What'd you use? Where'd you stick it?
BTW: I loved all your other stuff as well.
Wassup with the dead link to buy your CD?

Damn, Camn. Really, really pretty. How'd you ever resist the temptation to sing to this one? I like the bowed bass - sounds you don't hear often are refreshing. Good sound - I'm with doc, how'd you mic all this?

I used my rode Nt-2 and blended it with a dean markely transducer on the bridge, cus the mic alone didn't pick up enough of that evil grating sound.....

yee haw!

Very nice stuff. Is all the bass on these songs an upright bass (sounds like it) or are you also using the acoustic bass guitar that you're (or someone's) holding in the picture? I especially liked Fresh Air and Climbing Vine.

I thought everything was recorded well. The tone of the bass is very good; you might want a tad more high end on the bass when you're featuring the bass runs. Maybe a little more middle on the guitar, it sounded a little thin at times. There also might be just a little echo in the room. But these are all nits, none of these things are glaring.

I have no idea about how to record a bass other than what you've just taught me, but I do think that the best upright bass player that I've ever heard is Danny Thompson. Pick up a Richard Thompson & Danny Thompson (no, they're not related except by musical genius) CD if you'd like to hear something to be emulated........Enjoy.....

Hey Camm, I'm assuming you're talking about "Late Night Stumble"?. I liked it, particularly what you went into around 1:50 or so and again at 3:00 and again a little later. Still not sure which song your talking about though, but I dug this one.

Yknow, I recorded the bass like that on all the tracks.. except couldawoulda...cuz theres no bass part.

And...its hard to remember.. I think that Geoff used his non-upright on a couple tracks... but I forget which ones. Its a fretless, so it sounds similar..I forget. We tracked this months ago, and then i moved and went on vacation and then mixed it.

oh well.
