In the swamps of Jersey
I'm, in a new room in our basement. 1 open room about 28X14. The mixer area is set up just off the middle of the room. The room has almost 8' ceilings except where the main heating ducts go. There it's about 6' 3" high. I am using some cubicle panels to divide up the room. I can really use some bass traps. The wall behind me has a closet wall on an angle and just past that is a door going into the crawl space. I hope that shows up in the second pic.
My question is if I make small bass traps to fit the open area will it be enough?
And what I'm most confused about is making bass traps. I've read Ethans stuff and it's a great start. I'm not clear on is this box made with wood on each side? Why do I read about cloth holding in the fiberglass? How do I place the fiberglass in the box? With space between the boards or do I pack them tight? Do I go with 2" or double it for 4" depth? Does it matter if I keep on the backing to the fiberglass?
I done a bunch of reading on the subject and theres the confusion. Too many ways to make them I guess. Does anyone have step by step detail plans?
I have found a local place that sells Thernafiber for stuffing. I'm fair with a saw so I'd like to make my own.
Please help.
I'm sure Ive left something out so if any more info is needed just let me know.
Thanks
Tom
