acid multitrack question

A drum track is down in ACID. I try to record a guitar part into ACID. When I play it back the recorded track has both the drum and guitar. Is there a way to record just the guitar and still hear the drum track during the recording process. We have ACID 2.0 and Delta 44.
 
Do you have one or two soundcards?

It is easier to do the task at hand if you have two soundcards. :)

But, you can do it with just one soundcard (I have to try to remember how).

So, if you have two soundcards then do this...

RECORD BUTTON/RECORD DEVICE/(change to the other soundcard by pressing the down arrow then select that soundcard).


OR

I don't remember how many INS/OUTS the Delta 44 has but you could do this...

On the DRUM TRACK press the number to the left of the MUTE BUTTON.

Assign the DRUM TRACK to play on a channel.

Then assign the RECORD BUTTON to a seperate IN channel.

I'm sure there is another way to do this, but I will have to play around with Acid for a few minutes (I know that I have done it before when I only had one soundcard). :)

I hope this helps and I will post you back in about 3 or 4hours with the 3rd solution.
