That pretty much sums it up.
All my recordings are going to either left or right depending on which channel of the interface I'm using.
How do I switch from recording stereo to mono?

Thanks much.
Dave

It's going to be in the manual somewhere... Somewhere at the input there should be something to make the track mono or stereo... It's a basic function.

ACID Defaults to inputs 1 & 2 (Stereo) as the input for any track

You need to click on the inputs icon (Usually right next to the arm for record button (looks like a 1 arrow going into 3arrows)) and selct which input you want to use.
If you selct input 1 (assuming you're plugged into input 1) only you will get a mono track

There's more detailed description with pictures of the icons in the manual

That actually isn't the case.
There is no "input" function on the track window or in the options. I couldn't find it in the manual (might be my fault). So even though I might be being dumb here, my question still stands.

There are some input options in the "M Audio Fast Track Pro Control Panel" (my interface's control panel), but I've tried all combinations with no luck.

Any other help would be appreciated.

Actually it is :)

Make sure you have the M-audio ASIO devise selscted as the audio device in properties
Then check out page 155 & 158 of the acid pro 7 manual (infact the whole of the Using Mixing Consol Section may be of use to you) and read about using the in and out tabs (I/O) on the track channel strips to select recording inputs from those available on your device

Also page 18 & 19 in the Introducing ACID Software section will show you where the "Record Device Selector" is also located on the horizontal track list info for each track. And my bad it only looks like 3 arrow into 1 if you have an ASIO device selected.

if you select groups of 2 inputs on a track you will get a stereo track, if you select a single input you will get a mono track

If it's anything like Sony Vegas, you arm the track first, then click on the input select button. That will let you choose stereo pairs or individual inputs.

First of all, thank you for your responses and help.

I did however discover the Input button as well as the arrows pointing at other arrows about arrows.... I had to maximize the track window in order for it to become visible. So either that's something stupid that I should have known to do or something stupid that you forgot to mention. It should be good now.

Thanks
