Shure SM-7, AKG D-12, EV RE-20, EV RE-27 to name but a few.

do you know anything about the Superlux PRA238 kick drum mic or the Superlux 218b kick drum mic?

I was really lucky with my Superlux CM-H8A large dia. condesner...
I'd be willing to give one of those a shot.

Sorry my friend, I've never had my hands on that one.

audio technica atm25 or if your on a tight budget the at 25 pro is pretty much unbeatable for the $

I own the Superlux 218b and for the price it rocks! It came in a drum mic pack of 6 mics, kick,3 tom/snare,2 overheads all for
399 canadian! cant beat that price!

Aren't the Superlux mic's made OEM for Yorkville?

I'm not sure who makes them, but I've been hearing good things about them.

Another great one is the Beyer TGx-5 (or something like that) I can't remember the model off the top of my head, and I haven't used one in awhile, but it's got nice "natural" sound to it. It looks almost like an old time vocal mic.

i just recorded a demo with an apex 125 i rented. its a good mic for the cost

The most popular kick mics in a lot of big studios are Senneheiser 421's and Beyer M88's. I use a Beyer TGX-50. Great mic, works well on other sources too.

That's the mic, man! I love those things. They give uyou a much better sound than a D112 or th Beta52.

The Beta91 is probably the best of the lot, but that's comparing apples and oranges because it's a condenser.
