I am in need of one of these for recording purposes. I would like to take a signal from a mic'd amp that the guitarist sets to his liking but Id also like to get a signal from my amp sim or another amp that I set up. I have read some reviews on Morely's ABY and a couple others on Musiciansfriend website and I was not really impressed on the reviews of any of them....any advise on what you guys are using???

thanks...

Do you mean a line selector? Boss A/B Line selector.

THe Morley is an OK type of ABY but make sure whatever you hook up to it you only use one outlet or there might be ground loop issues.

I mean like the Morely AB/Y pedal. it lets you plug one guitar in, but with the push of a button, you can choose output A to one amp, or output B to a second amp, or output Y which is actually both A and B at the same time to both amps...Anyone who has recorded hardheaded guitarists knows what I mean. Most of us know that you need to cut gain to record but they "don't want to lose their tone" so in some situations, I need to set up a second amp where I control the settings.

Plug both amps into the same power outlet

I picked up the Whirlwind Selector today for this purpose. The idea was to run one line into an amp and the other would be used for DI for possible reamping later.

I A/B'd it a bunch of times with guitar straight to an amp and I did notice a slight difference with it in the circuit. The switching itself was dead quiet and I'd say if I was going to use it live it would be just fine but in the studio I noticed a very slight loss of tone and that will make me mental.

I guess the next and final step up would be the Radial Switchbone but I'm worried that I will still be disappointed and now we're getting into serious $$.

If you don't need something that switches you could look into the Little Labs STD from Mercenary.com.

I've toyed around with a design for what I think would be a pretty unique and useful ABY selector, but I don't really have the time or means right now to prototype it, and I think it might benefit from having an active circuit (not sure on that) which I have no clue how to design, so I need to consult with someone more in the know.

I've had the Morely for 5 years and it has yet to do me wrong. Mine is a solid piece of equiptment.

I have an old Morley ABY (about ~'87) I'd be willing to part pretty cheap- just IM me...
