Aardvark Q10 vs. MOTU 828mkII

In your opinions which one is better and why... Software I will be using is Nuendo.

if you only had X dollars and needed the preamps, i guess you would have to go with the aardvark but if you didn't need the preamps right away i would definately go with the MOTU.

I plan on using external tube preamps anyway... so you think the 828mkII would be better?
 
well, i just ordered the Q10 over the 828mkii, mainly because of price and it comes with pres and most people have said they are around the same unit anyway - biggest differences (some of them) being the mkii doesnt have to be used with the computer, and the q10 has pres...
 
If I had to choose again, I'd still choose the 828mkII. :cool:

It did win the TEC award for digital converter technology.
 
The motu 828mkII definitely has the better quality converters, but it also has the most compatitblity issues. If you are using a mac, I'd say go for the motu, no question. But if you are running windows you might want to do some research first. Last I heard, motu still hadn't released a good stable set of drivers for windows. Though, the problem might have been solved by now.
 
I read somewhere (in a forum like this), that Aardvark may close. If that's true, the driver support will become an issue.
