which option is better ?

Buying (Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96) OR (M-audio Delta 66 with 2 Audio Buddy Preamps)

please help

I can't speak directly to this (don't have the M-Audio), but here's my guess: Both will sound pretty darn good.

I have two of the Aardvarks and *love* the sound. Clean and solid.

One point - with the Aardvark, you also get limited EQ, compression and reverb. Its really nice to be able to add a touch of reverb to the vocals that the musicians are listening to while singing. They sound better, and I think it makes them sing better.

both would be good. if the aardvark has built in pre's and is cheaper, i'd go with that.

I'd go with the Aardvark. I did a side by side comparison with the Omni Studio package and the DP2496, and liked the Aardvark better. I liked the control interface, and the breakout box seemed more rugged. Plus, I think the Aardvark pres are better than the Audiobuddy's (pure speculation...I heard that they don't guarantee 48V of phantom power). I love my Aardvarks.

IMHO the Aardvark DP 2496 kicks @ss!! The pre's are pretty d@mn nice for some things (class-A preamps, according to the techs at Aardvark), and the DSP effects are nice to have as well. The EQ and Compressor on each input can be used while recording, while the reverb is for monitoring only, and will not be tracked "to tape", so to speak. Great tech support as well, especially their phone support. Top notch!

if it comes down to the Aardvark pres vs Audio Buddy pres, i would go Aardvark......sound quality between the Aardvark and the Delta are pretty similar......

I would buy a small mixer like the Yamaha MG12/4 in preference to 2 Audio Buddies, and front the 66 with that

I am in the middle of the same query. I like the Aardvark so far in terms of specs.

BUT

I see it comes bundled with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9. I thought Cakewalk was no longer supported and that you had to buy Sonar to get any tech support from the company.

Does anyone know the scoop on this?

UPDATE: It seems some older ones are out there for sale with Cakewalk 9, also Cakewalk Home Studio.

But current version are shipping with Cubase.
