Hi everyone..

I've ordered Aardvark's Directpro 24/96 and I'm waiting it to arrive these days..

But, have some questions and "question marks" about my future computer setup.. Can you help me?

I'm running my Athlon 750Mhz processor with 256 MbRAM and have 30 Gb Matrox HD.. Can you tell me what changes to make?

Do you know which Athlon processor do Aardvark's run best on?

I want to buy the fastest processor..Should go on Athlon 1GHz? Do I need additional RAM? What HD do you recoomend me?

I'm running about 60-65 stereo tracks at a song, use many plug-ins and everything is based on harddisk recording..

Please, help..
Thanx

Aardvark and AMD

Funky,
I was concerned about compatibility issues concerning Aardvark's Pro 24/96 and my Athlon 1Ghz processor in my Compaq Presario. I contacted Aardvark tech and I was told that the chip set used in my computer was the VIA KZ-133 and that this chip set was compatible for use with the Aardvark Pro 24/96. Try to determine which chip set your machine uses in order to resolve potential compatibility issues. I received my Aardvark yesterday and will be setting it up in the near future. I will post my results. Hope this helps you and other newbies like myself.

have aardvark 24/96-1ghz-512meg-intel

your recording software and operating system are all very important too!

Beware, aardvark does not have the lowest latency (or expected to be) WDM (windows driver model) drivers for win2000pro. Expected september (email their tech support and let them know how important you find this issue(believe me you will)).

Aardvark does have driver that work with win2000pro, 98se, 98, and (ithink) 95 and nt(maybe) but the wdm drivers should be much more efficient and lower latency.

there are several articles here and there on setting up your system for best audio proformence, good to read as some of them are counter intuitive. You probably have a Maxstor drive and maybe a matrox video card? I use matrox with the dual monitor feature and Love it.

will help all i can

Good Choice

Hey! They seem to have steered you in the right direction. I too have the Aardvark Direct Pro 24/96. After the initial set up 'issues' (I have an Alesis Synth that was quite confusing, of course i'm not good at this stuff yet). I must say that the SOUND is great. I have much less horsepower than you do, but do utilize BIG EFFECTS!!! I've had NO ISSUES with processing speed and/or file size related glitches. Even real-time. I'm sure you will enjoy the hell out of your Aardvark. Although now that I've had it for a while and am purchasing more equipment. I WISH that it had more Analog ins/outs!!! I went to Aardvark and they have a new product with 8 rather than 4, but it's not out yet. ENJOY your new toy.:D

I just got the Direct Pro too, that is one sweet card, BIG improvement over my Turtle Beach Montego. :)
