Aardvark compressor

How well does the compressor in the mixer section of the Aardvark Direct pro 2496 work? I know it is pre A/D converter, so it compresses up front. Is it a decent compressor for vox and acoustic guitar?

If not, how can you route the input signal path so that it hits the Aardvark preamp first, then to an external compressor, then into the A/D converter? Does this necessitate having a mixer with inserts? Or could you route the signal like so:

mic--> Aardvark in 1 pre ---> aarvark out 1 ------> compressor-----> aardvark in 3 bypassing pre-----> A/D converter

if this would work, what kind of cable do you need for the compressor? A Y-cable with a stereo end plugged into the compressor and a mono end each into the Aardvark Out 1 and Aardvark In 3?

I know this is sort of a soundcard question....but it really is more about compression, that is why I have posted here (but I have posted a similar question in the Soundcard forum, but with more of an emphasis on the soundcard component).
 
Can't think of a single time when I've found the Aardvark compressor useful.

The card isn't bad/I'll rate the support in a few days at the conclusion of a HUGE dilemna I'm having.

So you have tried it and don't like it? Or how do you compress input signals?
 
It's not a good compressor. I also think that it is after conversion, so it wouldn't help with limiting either.

I compress input signals with an RNC, but I have the Lx6 without the pres..

The latest batch of drivers is actually very stable/good.

thanks...but with the DP 2496, it is pre A/D converter (the manual describes it).

Do you use a mixer then for routing your input through your pre then compressor then the LX6?
