Forgive me if this topic has come up b4, but I haven't found anything to match my exact setup. I posted a similar question before, which got me started on the right track, but now I've hit a brick wall. I have:
M-Audio Delta 1010 sound card
Yamaha O2r Mixing board
Cubase VST
Windows XP
I had asked the best way to wire the thing. The way I arrived at so far, (and I'll just use one instrument as my example): Drum machine goes into track one and two of the mixing board. I have it routed to auxiliary outs 1 and 2 into inputs 1 and 2 of the soundcard. Cubase gets a signal, it shows sound has been recorded, everything so far is lovely. The problem is in the playback, or adding other tracks. I've tried using output 1 and 2 from the soundcard going into several different inputs of the mixing board, which then I route directly to the stereo outs (which then go directly to the power amps and speakers). What I get is a little of the playback sound, but a lot of just bad buzzing noise (and yes, I did mute the original inputs from the original drum machine during playback). I also tried using the spdif out of the soundcard and into the tape in/inputs on the mixing board, which I have some success with as far as playback, but still a little noise and I have to change the mixing board's settings to hear it, so that now I can only hear playback and can't hear the input of new instruments I'm trying to dub.
I've made numerous attempts as far as re-routing signals on both the soundcard and the mixing board, and now have pulled out what little hair I have left. Let me know someone what I'm missing in the puzzle and what else I may need to add to my description to make my problem more clear if necessary.
