This YouTube tutorial has been really helpful. I hit a plateau a while back (still getting out of it honestly) where I wasn’t able to get the clarity I wanted, and boosting eq was just making things worse. I started doing cuts as described in this video though and it’s helped me make things clearer without boosting all over the place.
