Hi John,
A couple of months back I asked for help on studio designs ...you invited me to ur site....I followed the guidelines and constructed a new building away from the residential area.
Thanx for being there.

It's a small single story building with two rooms and a soundlock corridor. Doors to the rooms open in the corridor. There is nothing above or below. Only my small studio. No neighbors no problems !!
Now that I've started working on the interiors ,I need your help once again.
After checking out all of your's and Brian Grey's latest pictures I'm a bit confused.. so please help.
My rooms are 13'6''x 14' and 13'x 14' and the roof is at 10'6''.

Following are the confusions

1. The Walls are 9'' thick constructed with Bricks and cement. Rendered both sides(STC Rating 50 ...right?)
Do I still need to construct a double drywall inside? or a 16mm plywood internal wall with insulation on both sides will do?

2. The materials available are
(A) All kind of wood, plywood, prticle board etc.
(B) Drywall
(C) (i)fibre glass (ii)rockwool (iii) thermocol

Can I use fibreglass or rockwool as my main absorbers?

3. What is the external insulation for?
Which material should I use for the external insulation.

4. In your Update 1, there is a Figure explaining about the internal wall. In this drawing there are two 16mm
plasterboards used. The reason for placing the plasterboard
on outside of the wall is that we want to use the internal cavity for internal acoustics.

Can I place fibreglass or rockwool in that cavity throughout the rooms and then cover it with cloth or slot resonators?

I've followed your other guidelines carefuly. With your kind help I'll be able to complete my dream studio....
Studio Greyman... where everybody from Home Recording is a partner.
Thanks in advance,
regards,
greyman

Hi Greyman - nice to hear bout your construction. Yes you can use rockwool as your internal insulation.

"Can I place fibreglass or rockwool in that cavity throughout the rooms and then cover it with cloth or slot resonators?"

Yes you can, that's the idea of this kind of construction but if the brick wall is enough sound isolation then there is no need for additional drywall.

cheers
John

construction gets underway from tomorrow !!!!!!

Thanks a lot John.....
only one question left unanswered
What is the external insulation for?(insulation on the back of internal wall)
Which material should I use for the external insulation?

Thanking you,

kind regards,
