Late-blooming songwriter!
Today, April 12, is our 29th wedding anniversary. To honour my wife, I wrote this song for her a couple months back. Today would be an appropriate day to post it :)

She calls me her rock/pillow, so I made sure I incorporated it into the song.

I usually double my voice because I'm not very fond of it  This time it's just a single voice, not sure what I think of it, but it does make the song more personal for my wife.

Listen through headphones, the electric piano and bongos really add to the stereo image.

Thanks for listening.

WALK THROUGH FIRE <== Click title

For the times, you feel like no-one's there
The times, you wonder if they care
Well you know, there's always just one soul
To lean on, if you feel out of control

I'm your rock, solid as can be
I will stand, you can depend on me
I'm your pillow, soft upon your bed
A place to rest your weary head

[CHORUS]
I'd walk through fire for you
Through barbed wire for you
I'd be a liar for you
I'd walk through fire
I'd do a crime for you
Write a rhyme for you
To spend more time with you
I'd walk through fire

There's a place, just you and I know
A place that's sheltered from the snow
And you know, that when the times get tough
If you feel, your best ain't good enough

I'm your rock, solid as can be
I will stand, you have my guarantee
I'm your pillow, soft upon your bed
A place to rest your weary head

Congratulations to you and your wife, Mike! May you both enjoy another 29+ years together.

Great song, BTW. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Joseph :)

I enjoyed the listen, nice song. There is nothing wrong with your vocal, sounds good. I liked the easy flow and instrument build as the song progressed. Hope your wife enjoyed.

Nothing will get you pussy faster than a well written song. :p congrats. Nice tune.

Firstly congrats on 29 years. We celebrate 20 this July....

The pre-chorus (as I would call it - see below) has some chord changes in it that are not my favorites. They work okay but they seem too "noticeable" or "different" when they occur. Take that with a grain of salt as I am a I IV V kinda guy myself - lol....:D

The rest of the song has a good flow to it musically and the lyrics overall are very good.

I will have to defer comments for a while.

I've been trying to listen to the song, but either Soundclick or my broadband is acting up. I got about 12 seconds worth . . . I got to hear "For the times . ." before things fell apart.

However, that brief glimpse was enough to make me want to hear more.

I'll give it another try later.

I think this has definitely got a 'Barry White' rhythm vibe goin on and that is a great vibe on a song like this. Actually I could hear Barry (bless him) giving this a turn - perhaps its the phasered electric piano?

I really like the simplicity of the Ch, after one listening I had it in my head - have you tried it a notch or two faster?

Congratulations - excellent innings - I am up to 19 yrs together in June probably should start thinking about it now!

I enjoyed the song.

It rambled along at a nice easy pace, and had a contented relaxed fell about it. You sang it really well, and the whole track had a very polished fell to it.

The danger of declarative love songs is that they can get grimacingly sugary, but you have very deftly avoided doing that.

Your voice is greta. It suited the material, and you have no need to squirm about having it up there and out front. I'm pleased you didn't double it, because the song has greater intensity with just the single voice.

Excellent stuff!

The chorus is fantastic. I love the alliterative Fire, liar, wire and crime, rhyme, time and sticking them inside the line rather than at the end makes it even more poignant. The bongos start to wear on me near the end but the ear is lead away from them deftly by the chorus. I wouldn't mind hearing the chs repeated and faded at the end. BTW-I LOVE the chorus! Nice work.

Thank you so much to ALL of you. Writing a good song is more important to me than the performance of a song...so I appreciate that most of you liked the treatment I gave it, as well as the "quality" of the piece. The reason this is so important to me is because I had given up years ago on ever being able to write even ONE half-decent song.

The positive feedback as well as the constructive feedback gives me a bit more confidence every day in sitting down to write the next song.

Thanks again!
