Abyyss

that's life
I've got £40 (about $60/$70?) to spend, and I don't know whether I'd be better getting an electric guitar and learning how to play it or what.

I need some advice.

BTW, I've got Cubasis VST 3.0 already (this is all the equipment I have)

Abyyss,

An electric guitar could open up some unique avenues for production, but isn't a very easy instrument to play. My partner has been taking lessons on acoustic guitar (which is somewhat different to play I know) for 2 years and is just now getting to a point where he can write songs on it. On the other hand, I've never taken a lesson on keyboard/piano but I was writing songs with it the first day I had it. One benefit of learning guitar is that you'll eventually be able to play the bass guitar as well, which will greatly enhance your music.

With your budget I couldn't recommend anything else. Maybe some guitar players could make some recommendations here.

Good luck.

This is the problem. I could get an electric guitar or maybe a synthesiser would be more use to me. Or a sampler or what?

I don't know! (The guitar I would get is a rent for £40 for 3 months - u get a pretty decent guitar, amp, the lot - and after 3 times of doing this you've paid for it and get to keep the lot.)

Abyyss,

What about a controller keyboard so you can play your sequences on that and record them into Cubase? A sampler would be a good option as well, but since you're using Cubase it would probably be easier (and more powerful) to use a soft sampler. You might be able to find one of those at the link I suggested: www.hitsquad.com/smm

The guitar might be a good option, especially if you're getting an amp with the deal. Really it's up to you? Which do you think you'd use more? How much time do you want to spend learning things?

BTW, You'll also need to figure out how to get the guitar recorded into the PC, which might require buying more hardware. Just something to think about.

I have actually got a controller keyboard - it's not brilliant but it works well enough for me.

Abyyss,

I see. I was gonna say, it's got to be hard as hell coming up with lines using only a mouse.

Yeah, lol.

I think I'll probably get the guitar......... but I'm still not sure:(

I can be VERY indecisive at times..........

Abyyss,

When it comes to buying new equipment I am the very definition of indecisive. This is why I usually will buy gear at stores with return policies, so I can play with it for a week and if I get bored with it or find myself unhappy with it, I can just return it.

Not sure if you have them in your area, but Guitar Center has a 1 month return policy. To say the least I have taken full advantage of that policy.

You'll probably be happy with the guitar, you seem to be dedicated and willing to learn and that's all it really takes. Good luck with that.

Thanks.

(Now, shall I get a red one or a black one? What about a green one? Blue?)

Completely off the subject, but.........

When did you say your tour was on?

I know you said it was sometime in 2003, but I can't really remember.

If you can, try to come 2 Leeds (They have this thing called "Party In the Park" on somtimes - don't know how you get into it, though + I live there:D)

Abyyss,

How about one of these? LOL

Abyyss,

On a more serious note. The album release is slated for April '03. As far as touring, we haven't come up with a definitive plan as of yet. I'm pretty sure we'll be hitting Canada first, Toronto is like our second home and that is where most of our fan base is.

We haven't hammered out the details as of yet though. I'm just concentrating on getting the material done at this point. Hopefully, we'll have the masters sent off for duplication before the New Year.

Since you have Cubase try to get a midi controlled keyboard or guitar. You will get more use out of it
