Yo, what's up D_D.
If you are going to do this then you need to do things the correct way.
First of all, like WC said DO NOT purchase one of those DJ starter kits.
It will be a waste of your time and money. Your needles will be skipping, the fader on the mixer will not be loose enough, and the turntables will be "belt" driven.
The industry standard turntable is the 1200 MKII and the overseas 1210 MKII (both made by Technics).
So, save your cash and purchase this setup:
(2) Technics 1200's
(1) Vestax 05 Pro, 06 Pro, or 07 Pro (or you can substitute one of the Vestax mixer for a Technics DMC 1200 mixer)
(2) Ortofon SCR-Scratch cartridges (these are the cartridges that connect to your Technics headshells)
The turntables combined will cost you list $1,400.00, but you can get them for a combined price of about $945.00 (in fact you would be better off purchasing them used (2 for $300 to $500) and then buying some new covers for them (2 for $50)
The mixer is going to hit you for at least $400.00 to $800.00, but you will have replaceable faders, channels, and lines.
The cartridges will set you back $90.00 to $150.00 each.
I hope that helps you out a bit....
with a little bit of practice you'll be Sctach Pickle X-men Beat Junkie.
Peace....
